“Monchito” is helping dogs!

February 27, 2017 by Staff News Writer

Monchito was attacked with a machete 2 years ago. It lost its paw and also the confidence in human beings.

However, what seemed to be a sad-ending story became the inspiration to help hundreds of dogs living in shelters. Beatriz Brenes adopted Monchito and decided that she should do something to help unlucky dogs.

When I adopted it, I had a women’s clothing store in Cartago and I went on a trip to the United States to look for merchandise. I found a lot of dog clothes and I thought: “how nice to wear pet clothes, sell it and donate money to the shelter that rescued Monchito”,

declared this dentist.

On the first trip, she brought only 6 pieces. But the demand was so high that she decided to close the women’s clothing store and open a pet clothing shop, which she named “Monchito.”

They sell Real Madrid uniforms, boots, pijamas, coats, tutus, etc., and 10% of what they sell will help other puppies that live in shelters and have no other way to survive.

The store is located in Momentum Pinares in Curridabat. There, customers can find varied clothing for their pets, because even cats wear clothes.

Prices depend on the size of the pet.

“Monchito” also organizes catwalks and free parties, where the requirement to enter is to provide food for dogs in shelters. The store publishes the events on its Facebook page.
