More than 100 murders in less than 2 months

The number of murders that occurred between January and February 2018 far exceeds the figures reported in the same period in 2017.

With the two crimes registered in the last hours in Paso Ancho and Tres Ríos de La Union, the numbers reached 101 crimes, six more than during the past year (the most violent in history with 603 cases).

The murder in Paso Ancho occurred at 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 75 meters east of the Casa del Tanque. The deceased was identified by the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) as Jorge Alejandro Conejo Morales, 27, who had multiple records. The other crime, which occurred in Tres Ríos, happened at 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday and the deceased was identified as Greivin Valderramos Martinez, 34, who served a drug sentence.

The judicial authorities estimate that this year will continue with a tendency to increase the number of murders and end with figures very similar to those recorded in 2017.
