A total of 123,579 vehicles did not carry out the periodic Technical Vehicle Review (TVR) demanded by law in 2018. This high figure alerts the authorities of the country about the risk of traffic accidents due to mechanical failures.
Of all the vehicles that did not comply with this control, 3,970 had some serious defect that prevented them from approving the revision before the end of the year.
Jennifer Hidalgo, Chief of Communication and Social Responsibility of Riteve commented that the number of stragglers in 2018 was greater than in 2017 with an increase of more than 12 thousand vehicles.
According to the spokesperson, the technical review is a control mechanism and not a tax, therefore, it is not cumulative, that is, the vehicles are called again regardless of whether they did or did not do the TVR in 2018.
However, these more than 123 thousand vehicle owners cannot obtain their circulation permit until they approve this revision,”
concludes Hidalgo.
Of the vehicles that did not show up to get the RTV, most were motorcycles with a total of 55,968 units, followed by 45,764 cars.
