More than 250 people have died on the road so far this year

Excess speed, invasion of the lane, and recklessness are the top three causes of death on the road in this country.

The most recent on-site death statistics, made by the General Directorate of the Traffic Police in July 2018, indicate that 256 people lost their lives at the accident site.

The most fatal routes are the same as last year: Ruta #2 Carretera Interamericana Sur (19 deceased), followed by General Cañas (18 deceased), Route #34 Costanera Sur (15 deceased), and the road to Limón, where 14 people have lost their lives.

The data show that men have a significantly higher rate of road deaths than women.

The recommendations of transit authorities is driving with caution, zero alcohol behind the Wheel, and avoid speeding.
