More than 68 thousand people have no water after Hurricane Otto

After Hurricane Otto hit Costa Rica, more than 68,000 people have no access to drinkable water in the country.

According to Yamileth Astorga, CEO of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA), the most affected cantons are Upala, Los Chiles and San Carlos, where 35,440 people in the Northern Zone are affected.

There are 6,068 people without water supply in Bagaces, 8,882 in La Cruz, 7,985 in Golfito and Corredores in the South Zone.

Finally, in the canton of Aguirre there are 9,780 people without water.

Given this situation, AyA has sent cisterns, water bags to the victims with the support from the private sector.

Nevertheless, Astorga requested to coordinate with the entity to distribute the vital liquid in the best possible way.
