The Libertarian Movement party asked the Executive to immediately convene the bill that seeks to regulate telework.
The request was made through a letter that the head of the fraction, Otto Guevara, addressed to the President of the Republic, Luis Guillermo Solís.
The initiative, explained Guevara, formalizes and establishes the necessary and basic regulation of telework to avoid affecting the work of the private and public sector.
The implementation of telework is part of the negative effects caused by the closure of the General Cañas Highway for 6 weeks to perform construction works on the bridge deck.
This forces the government and the private industry to take alternative measures to prevent further traffic chaos in the area of the bridge over Virilla River.
According to libertarians, one of the alternative measures is to promote and implement teleworking for people affected by the closure, so they don’t have to go to downtown San José.
In addition, they said the public and private sectors could have a successful employment strategy compatible with policies to reduce vehicular traffic, fuel savings and reduced environmental pollution.
I think it is the right moment to approve this bill that would come to formalize and establish the regulation so that private companies and organizations and the public sector know how to proceed,”
said Guevara.
The bill is currently being processed by the Congressional Economic Affairs Committee.
