Murderer sentenced to 51 years in prison for raping and beheading a child

On Thursday afternoon, the Criminal Court of Pococí condemned Jordi Campos Mendoza, also known as “Pirucho”, to 51 years and 6 months in prison for the murder of an eight-year-old child.

Campos was found guilty of the crimes of qualified homicide, rape, and desecration of corpses. The Court was made up of Yuliana Vallecillo, Greivin Piedra, and Enelson Garita, and the ruling was unanimous.

The sentence was 35 years for qualified homicide, 16 for rape, and 6 months for desecration of the body.

The events occurred on August 27th, 2016, in the afternoon hours, when the victim left his house to go play with a friend.

The minor walked about 50 meters, passing by the house of the accused, who took advantage of his innocence to invite him in. While they were both inside the house, according to the accusation, the accused raped the child and then asphyxiated him,”

indicated the Prosecution.

The investigation revealed that, after suffocating the child, the man decapitated him and cut off his genitals. The body of the victim appeared in the river that runs behind Campos’ house.
