During the inspection conducted in the apartment where a young Colombian was found dead, the Judicial Investigation Organization (OIJ) found no weapon to indicate that he attempted to take his life.
The 18-year-old victim, surnamed Rodríguez, was found in the armchair of his rented apartment in San Rafael de Escazú. He had a gunshot wound on his head.
The young man had few months living in the country and he rented the furnished apartment. Apparently he lived alone and it is unknown why he settled in national territory.
There is no disorder, or anything altered that makes us think it was a robbery. There are some personal items missing and it could be a matter of revenge, crime of passion or a setting of scores,
declared Luis Ángel Ávila, deputy director of the OIJ.
For the police, the main obstacle is the contact with relatives, since it was a young person with little time living in the country.
Rodriguez’s vehicle was in the parking lot, so the theft hypothesis takes little strength.
The judicial police is investigating whether the young man was interested in studying in the country or in the process of establishing a business.
