The narc-submarine that was found in Sierpe was empty. The National Coast Guard Service checked the boat that only had stumps and sand.
This was confirmed by Martin Arias, director of the unit, who explained that this type of boat has historically been used to transport drugs.

The official noted that generally, semi-submersibles leave Ecuador or Colombia for Guatemala and Mexico.

Historically, there are reports that semi-submersibles have managed to reach North American bays . There are also records of submersibles that carried drugs from South American countries to the African continent.
It is estimated that at least 10 tons of drug can be transported in the boat.
