Diablo mayor, diablo menor and el toro (big devil, little devil and the bull), characteristic elements of borucas’ parade, marched through the streets of Golfito to guide the audience during the closing ceremony of the 2016 National Arts Festival, which ended on August 14th at night.
The show “Sea of Fire” was commissioned to make way for the closing of this festival that began last August 5th, with activities in the cantons of Corredores in Puntarenas and Golfito.
The cultural event ended with a performance of six borucas ancestors, using a water screen 40 meters from the sea, on which animations and light effects were projected to narrate typical stories of this culture.
After completing the formal act, the band Son de Tikizia took the stage to fill it with salsa and close the evening with a dance concert.
The rain was present too. However, there was no reason for those who enjoyed music to leave their space in front of the stage.
In both communities, local governments, institutions and development partnerships owned the Festival and expressed their gratitude in many generous ways (…) the Festival has come to stimulate processes that were ongoing and we are paying attention. The fact that work we have done makes sense is very satisfactory,”
said Sylvie Durán, Minister of Culture and Youth.
