The government of Carlos Alvarado will present the National Development Plan (PND) on December 11th at the National Theater, according to Planning Minister, Pilar Garrido.
The PND is the guiding framework for government action, its current validity extends from January 2015 to December 2018, when Alvarado will present the new document.
The elaboration process is directed by Law of the Ministry of National Planning and Economic Policy (Mideplan) in coordination with the instances of the National Planning System.
The government announced that the proposals cover areas such as innovation and competitiveness, infrastructure, territorial planning and mobility, human security, health and social security. It also includes plans in education, economy for stability and inclusive growth and territorial development.
The document will also incorporate plans for the execution of public investment projects. A particular feature in this administration is that the PND and the Public Investments are incorporated in a single document, which had been worked out as previously separate proposals.
The proposal will also include the job creation goal of this administration.
The approach is based on the government program that President Alvarado presented when he was a candidate, as well as the objectives of sustainable development.
For the first time, Costa Ricans could participate in the development of this plan, since from September to the first week of October citizens contributed with their opinions through a virtual platform.
