Despite the approval of a motion that exempts the basic basket from taxes, National Restoration continues with a series of conditions to give its 14 votes to the tax reform when it reaches the Legislative Plenary.
Carlos AvendaƱo, head of the fraction, said that now they will focus on avoiding taxes for health and private education, as well as medicines. Those three issues will be the keys for Restoration to support the government’s initiative called strengthening of public finances.
Therefore, after the votes that are developed in the Special Commission of Fiscal Reform on these three points, they will make a final assessment to determine if they will give support it or not.
Another issue for which they bid is the tax on rents, because it would affect micro and small entrepreneurs who resort to lease a property to develop their ventures.

Regarding the issue of the basic basket, Nogui Acosta, Deputy Minister of Finance, said that the goal of collection with this project was already reduced with this decision by the legislators.
The authorities expected to collect around 60 billion colones. Eduardo Cruickshank said that the substitute text contains 29 exemptions and 12 non-restraints and therefore, the Executive Power was able to eliminate these incentives, to counteract the non-collection on the basic basket.
