Nearly 145 families of the Cabécar Indigenous community of Alto Chirripó in Turrialba are part of the construction process of two Ebais, a pedestrian bridge and several vegetable gardens. The initiative is part of the National Strategy for the Reduction of Poverty, Bridge to Development, which promotes the participation of families in community processes.
In the next few days these families will be working on the construction of two health centers, one in the community called Sinoli, which will benefit 350 people, and the other one in Jalakicha where about 300 people live. Currently, these people must walk up to eight hours to access medical services.
Another group of families works in the creation of diversified agricultural gardens. These gardens are located in Liceo Rural Tsiruri and the products are used in the student cafeteria.
