Nearly 50 families from vulnerable areas in Acosta to be relocated

A group of 49 families from the Acosta canton will be relocated, since they live in areas vulnerable to landslides.
The Municipal Emergency Committee (CME) of Acosta has already initiated the relocation of the families affected by Storm Nate in October.

The CME has focused on the safety of the people affected, so as a first phase of response we have made preventive evacuation of the populations that were within the areas of vulnerability and risk, with the sole objective of protecting the life and integrity of the people,”

said Norman Hidalgo, mayor of the community.

The decision was made after joint evaluations between the municipality and state institutions.
