Following the agreement reached last year between the Municipality of San José and artisans from the Crafts Market on 13th Street, to move to a new building, now they are working on the refurbishment of the place.
The new stores are located opposite Garantías Sociales Park.
According to Marco Vinicio Corrales, manager of services of the Municipality of San José, they are currently working on expanding the parking lot.
We are practically finishing a module, placing the tiles and starting the mezzanine for a possible gourmet restaurant for tourists,”
said Vinicio, who added these works are expected to be completed by the end of March.
The Municipality is also waiting for artisans to create a cooperative, since the idea is that they self- administrate the place.
Before June we should have final moving date,”
said the official.
Finally, the authority mentioned that the cost of the changes requested by artisans is about 150 million colones. While kiosks are worth 120 million colones on the 13th street.
We are trying to fund this with contributions from Banco Popular with a cooperation agreement with the municipality, to help mitigate the total costs,”
explained the man.
