Nicaraguan mayor whose life was threatened took refuge in the country

The mayor of the Mulukukú region, Apolonio Fargas, fled Nicaragua because of the siege and death threats against him and took refuge in Costa Rica, according to the media 100% News.

The politician announced that he will file a complaint in San José against the Sandinista Police, accusing them of the siege and death threats received in recent weeks.

Fargas, an imprisoned political prisoner, said the complaint will be filed with the subsidiary of the Permanent Commission on Human Rights (CPDH) in Costa Rica.

On August 9th, paramilitary and police elements illegally raided the municipal mayor’s headquarters in Mulukukú.
