OAS: Fire in Nicaragua is a crime against humanity

Luis Almagro, secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS), described the fire that occurred in Nicaragua this Saturday as a crime against humanity. Six people died in the fire: four adults and two babies.

According to the preliminary versions, the fire was caused by police and orteguista paramilitary because the family refused to allow a sniper on the top floor of the house. This was reported by the local media La Prensa.

In addition, neighbors and press teams in the area reported that they were attacked with bullets by riot police and orteguista paramilitary when they tried to help the family leave the structure that burned in flames.

The victims had a business selling mattresses. Óscar Pavón, the business owner, his partner Maritza López, their son, Alfredo Pavón, his spouse Mercedes Raudez, and the children of the young couple, Mathias and Daryeli, three months and three years old, respectively.
