A group of officers from the Coast Guard Station of Quepos freed a whale that became entangled in fishing gear. The event occurred pn August 15th, according to the Ministry of Public Security.
After receiving the alert via 911, the boat went to look for the animal under the command Juan Carlos Vargas, marine biologist of that station.
About two miles off the coast of Dominicalito, inside the Ballena Marina National Park, the Coast Guard found the cetacean entangled in the nets, which was anchoring it and preventing him from mobilizing freely.
After efforts and teamwork between officers and guides in the area they managed to remove the net.
The General Director of the Coast Guard, Commissioner MartÃn Arias, thanked the support provided by tour guides and operators, because it was one of them who made the final cut of the nets.
