American Expatriate Costa Rica

OIJ published video of the last time American victim was seen alive

The Judicial Investigation Agency published a video in which you can see the last hours of the American Thomas Jeffrey Cook, whose body appeared on a farm in Siquirres in August last year.

In the images, Cook is seen in a bank branch in Jaco Beach, Puntarenas, making a transaction, where he was nervous. Apparently, when he left the site, he got into a blue car, which was guarded by a white vehicle. The video was recorded on August 28th, 2018.

The OIJ is requesting any information that allows it to establish who owns these vehicles or other information about the case.

Cook was reported missing on September 7th, 2018 and his body was located on October 1st. He was buried in a farm in Siquirres.

The American had arrived in the country in July 2018 and apparently had rented an apartment in Jacó.

Cook was found dead, wrapped in a blanket, and tied inside a 1.5 meter grave in Palmiras of Siquirres. He was identified thanks to a tattoo of some roses he had on his back and because he wore a bracelet with the Costa Rican flag.

The autopsy revealed that he was murdered, but due to the body conditions and the time elapsed, the cause of death has not been determined.
