Opposition applauds Rodolfo Piza’s departure

On Monday, opposition legislators celebrated the decision of the Minister of the Presidency, Rodolfo Piza, to leave the Government of Carlos Alvarado.

Franggi Nicolás, from the National Liberation Party (PLN), said that Piza’s exit is the chronicle of a death foretold.

For a long time, there was an unease in the country with the management that Mr. Rodolfo Piza has been carrying out , one of the worst Ministers of the Presidency that we have had in recent times, a totally absent Minister, a Minister who had a very bad communication with the Legislative Assembly, despite being called to coordinate links between the Executive and the Legislative,”

said the congresswoman.

The head of fraction from the National Restoration Party (PRN), Eduardo Cruickshank , said that Piza’s resignation “is the best thing that could happen,” due to the climate of uncertainty in the country.

The legislator Jonathan Prendas, from the independent bloc New Republic, said that Piza had long since been “the political rope”.

As much as I am looking, I cannot find his great achievements, he has not been a good interlocutor, he has not been a generator of agreements or a bridge builder,”

said Prendas.

He argued that with the departure of Piza the alliance between the official Citizen Action Party (PAC) and the Christian Social Unity Party (PUSC) for a national unity government ends.

The independent Erick Rodríguez also said that Piza’s resignation was an open secret and that it is the healthiest thing the government could have done.

On the other hand, Congressman Erwen Masís, from the PUSC, said that only time will tell the contribution that Piza could have made to the country and said he balanced positions within the Government.
