Osa Hospital is still limiting visits and strengthening protection and cleaning measures due to a bacteria that was found last week in five inpatients.
Arturo Borbón, acting director of the Brunca Region, said that people affected with Klebsiella pnemoniae carbapenemase remain isolated. All infected patients were hospitalized in the service of medicine in that hospital.
On Monday two patients were cleared of the bacteria.
The room was reportedly already enabled and there was no need to move patients to other medical centers.
The visiting hours were modified and are now from 12 to 1:00 p.m. and from 4 to 5 p.m.
Intensive disinfection work such as washing the floors of various services is now complete, but they will continue the rest of the week with cleaning routines to keep infections under control.
This bacterium causes infections associated with health care (IAAS) and is one of the main agents of nosocomial infections such as septicemia, infections of the respiratory and urinary tract.

Strict handwashing.
Using gown and mask, both for health personnel and for relatives.
