In the package of Hillary Clinton’s controversial emails, former president Oscar Arias is mentioned.
The 2 emails are part of more than 1,280 pages released the US State Department, in response to a court order.
These emails, with non-classified information, are dated August 29th and 30th 2009, when Clinton was serving as Secretary of State and Arias was in his second term (2006-2010). The context: the political crisis in Honduras after the coup to Manuel Zelaya.
The communications came to Clinton Huma Abedin, one of her advisers at the time and her right hand in the current presidential campaign.
Arias said the US has played the game right. With proper mix of carrots, sticks, hardness, a unified message, impartiality and above all, good time (…) Arias said Europeans have been calling for the past two days, and have fallen in line with the US. UU. The Swedes, as heads of the EU have said they will take the signal from the US and support the action. The email, in the hands of Clinton, was addressed to the so-called ‘Task Force Honduras’ and was sent by Lewis Anselem, head US in the Organization of American States (OAS) in 2009.
In another email, called ‘Arias’ call’, dated August 29th, 2009 and was sent by the then US ambassador in Honduras, Hugo Llorens.
I just got a call from Arias. He expressed appreciation for all our support to the democracy in Honduras. He said that the recent and harsh messages from Insulza (former secretary of the OAS), OAS ambassadors and officials of the USG are reinforced by US sanctions and were having an impact on the regime M. He praised our decision to close the consulate and urged that also take tourist and business visas from the leading regime members and supporters,”

Clinton’s request to Abedine was that these emails were printed.
On the subject, we tried to talk to Arias during Thursday afternoon. However, one of his collaborators said he was in a meeting.
A few days before the US presidential election, Clinton is being investigated by the FBI after using a private server when she was State’s Secretary.
The previous Friday the investigation against the candidate was reopened in an effort to determine whether they contain classified information.
Clinton violated official standards from 2009 to 2013 using her personal email account through a private server installed in her home in Chappaqua, New York, rather than a government account, potentially exposing confidential information to hackers.
