Although on Saturday the Association of Local Guides of Ostional reported in its official networks about a “massive arrival of turtles” to that beach and that they were even visiting the gardens of residents of the town, today the Ostional National Wildlife Refuge reported that is not true.
According to the authorities of said Refuge, attached to the National System of Conservation Areas (SINAC), the arrival of turtles has been normal:
The arrival of this month is normal, it could even be considered small and atypical behavior for this time of the year. It is NOT TRUE that the turtles leave the beach because they do not fit, this happens because, unfortunately, there are areas that have not been blocked and because in some sectors there is a barrier of natural vegetation that prevents this from happening.”
The shelter denounces that there are people who are using drones and that this can upset the animals, so they ask people not to do it.
Remember that visits to turtles’nesting places should be guided, to avoid disturbing the animals. Do not take a flash photo or interfere with the natural process.
