The Vulcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) reported an eruption in Rincón de la Vieja Volcano, in Guanacaste, on Wednesday morning. The event began at 5:00 am and ended a few minutes later.
According to the institution’s report, the gas column reached a thousand meters from the crater. In addition, there is no report of ash fall or smell of sulfur in the area.
According to the National Seismological Network (RSN) from June until today there have been 24 events like this one in this volcano.
Caution is recommended as well as avoid being near the rivers that descend the northern flank of the volcano, due to the potential danger of lahars.
