PAC begins offensive in search of votes for Ottón Solís

The Citizen Action Party (PAC) began an offensive in the search of votes for the candidacy of legislator Ottón Solís to the presidency of the Legislative Assembly.

The parliamentary faction made Solís’ aspirations official and announced that it will meet with the other benches to look for support.

The announcement was made by Solís, the chief of the bench, Javier Cambronero and Marlene Madrigal in the company of other PAC legislators.

According to Cambronero, they’ll meet with members of the Libertarian Movement and independent Carmen Quesada on Wednesday, and they are waiting for other groups to confirm appointments.

The PAC will deliver a negotiation proposal that includes topics for legislative governance and priorities of bills to push in the last legislature.

Some of the topics included in the chapter on legislative governance are:

-Reforms to the regulation to expedite the decision making in the plenary and commissions.
-Reducing expenses in the Legislative Assembly.
-Promoting the constitutional reform to sanction legislators for failing to the duty of probity.
-Encouraging reports by the commissions of inquiry to be known by the plenary.

The bills to promote include:

– Constitutional reform to reduce periods between the first and second round of elections.
– Recognize and guarantee the human right of access to water.
– Economic reactivation agenda.
– Projects of the income tax and Value Added Tax (VAT).
– Review tax exemptions.
– Sustainability of the pension system of the judiciary.
– Ordinance of salaries in the public sector.

Cambronero highlighted the leadership of Solís and his negotiating skills to push the agenda of strategic projects.

Solís stressed that the proposal is to negotiate with the other groups as part of a collective effort to build an agenda with the contribution of all fractions.
