The Supreme Court of Panama has asked the Foreign Ministry to request the extradition of former President Ricardo Martinelli, who claims to be in the United States, on charges of corruption and illegally spying on political rivals.
According to different sources, Martinelli, a multimillionaire businessman who can to power after campaigning against against corruption lives in voluntary exile in Miami.
After his term ended, a dozen complaints of corruption and financial crimes have been filed against him, and several ministers and other senior officials are being prosecuted.
