Parents decided to close Portón de Naranjito School in Quepos as a sign of protest due to the poor state of 606 road, which is in front of the institution.

The road is not paved, which generates a lot of dust that affects the minors’ health. Alexandra Delgado, principal of the school, stated that authorities have worked on the road for many years, but it has not been completed.

There is an excessive amount of dust and it is is affecting everyone’s health. Many students are missing due to respiratory diseases. Children who are allergic are presenting critical situations such as nose bleeding,

She added that the dust even make it difficult to give lessons.

Francini Alfaro, a mother, assured that the idea of ​​the protest is that the National Council of Roads (CONAVI), resolve the situation.

The school has 170 students, who, in one way or another, are affected by the situation. According to the director, even the Ministry of Health warned about its danger.

Parents threatened to keep the school closed for at least a week if no action is taken to solve the problem.
