Rescate Animal Zoo Ave-Facebook
A few days ago this parrot was left at the clinic in the Animal Rescue Center Zoo Ave, in good health conditions. The bird is about 20 years old and it is estimated that the deformity in its peak is very old.
The rescuers are uncertain whether it was a genetic defect or a combined result of assault with inadequate food and hangers for it.
The hangers (branches or trunks to perch) are very important because the birds bite them and file their peaks naturally. The lower peak grew abnormally because the bird does not have an upper peak on top. As a consequence, the animal has many problems to eat, but the people who cared for her helped every day,”
said the rescuers.
According to Zoo Ave’s Facebook, this case should serve as a call to avoid buying pigeons.
The bird’s lower peak was cut and filed to help her have a more normal life. However, the rescue center warns that she cannot be released. Unfortunately, the bird was a pet for a long time and would have too many difficulties to eat alone because of the deformity.
Zoo Ave reminded people that a cage is not a home.
