Patricia Mora, from Frente Amplio, said that the Attorney General of the Republic, Jorge Chavarría, “has crossed a very dangerous line” and assured that she believes Chavarría defends other people’s interests.
These remarks came after the Prosecutor’s assertion about the money from the Bank of Costa Rica (BCR) -which gave $30 million in credit lines to the questioned Chinese cement importer, Juan Carlos Bolaños- saying it is private and not from all Costa Ricans.
Mora asked if Chavarría is aware that public banks have a state guarantee.
What would happen, Mr. Chavarría if, for example, the Bank of Costa Rica had to assume the losses for the credit to Sinocem? It’s $30 million.”
The legislator also questioned that some judges decided to backtrack the trial for the Crucitas case and only accused the former Minister of Environment and Energy, Roberto Dobles.
Now Mr. Jorge Chavarría wants to prevent Oscar Arias from being investigated and it turns out that he is going to accuse the judges,”
said Mora.
