Escalante Pradilla Hospital in Pérez Zeledón, Carlos Valverde Vega Hospital in San Ramón, and Golfito Hospital are the three most affected medical centers by the strike that unions maintain against the tax plan.
Pérez Zeledón’s hospital halted 39.2% of its work for this Wednesday, the tenth day of the strike. Seven services of this medical center (Emergencies, Hospitalization, Operations Room, X-Rays, Laundry, Hygiene, and Security) produced only half or less of the average work.
In San Ramón de Alajuela, the hospital’s production fell by 31.9% in relation to a normal day. External consultation, Hygiene, and Security were the most affected services.
Finally, in Golfito, production fell by 30%. Services such as External Consultation and Operations Room stopped the attention completely on Wednesday.
Román Macaya, president of the CCSS, called on the working population of the institution to return to their positions and offer services normally.
This strike is a distraction for the number of challenges that the CCSS has to address at this time, such as the aging population, the strengthening of the first level of attention, improvements in service management, quality, and in the opportunity of attention,”
