The Minister of Finance, Rocío Aguilar, must explain to the Legislative Plenary the detailed measures that the administration of President Carlos Alvarado will take to contain public spending.
This was unanimously agreed Monday by 56 legislators who approved a motion to interrogate Aguilar in the next 30 days.
The Minister must provide accurate, measurable, and verifiable information on the different actions that will be adopted by the Administration; as well as the targets set in percentages that reflect a real decrease in the fiscal deficit,”
indicates the motion.
The initiative, which was promoted by several legislators, establishes that the Plenary will use two full sessions for the interrogation and the consultations made by legislators.
The majority of opposition factions keep their support for the fiscal reform conditional on a detailed government plan to reduce public spending.
