Police has no reports of clowns kidnapping children

A WhatsApp voice note alerting about a situation that allegedly occurred in Tres Ríos on Wednesday, when a group of clowns were looking for children to kidnap them, has gone viral.

In the audio you can hear a woman saying

I don’t know if you have noticed what is happening in the United States, where men dressed as clowns are doing weird things (…) now there are three guys in Tres Ríos with clown masks in a dark blue or black car, I don’t know. They go around kidnaping children.”

According to the woman who recorded it, she saw the subjects at about 6:00 a.m. in the supermarket Vindi in Tres Ríos.

Nobody told me, I saw the guys there myself, with those horrible masks from the United States. After a while one is fooled it’s only people copying dumb things,”

added the woman.

As in many other similar situations, the Ministry of Public Security said it has no reports and asked people not to believe these alerts.

For several days, there were reports of “sinister clowns” who terrorize people in countries like the Netherlands and the United States, with masks and weapons.

In at least 12 states, authorities have detected clowns loitering near schools and businesses, sometimes armed and behind the wheel of trucks. This has forced the police, educational institutions and the White House to intervene.
