Police working public bus routes

According to the director of the Fuerza Publica, Juan José Andrade, in an operation dubbed “Bus Security” officers are deployed among public bus routes. Some officers dress in plain clothes and ride the bus while others stop and check passengers for weapons and contraband.

Since the program was launched in 2011, the number of annual bus assaults has dropped from 279 to 134 in 2013.
