Although there are still 14 months to go before the next presidential election in Costa Rica, political analysts place the Citizen Action Party (PAC) and Frente Amplio (FA) as the weakest candidates for the electoral contest.
The reasons for this are the political exhaustion of the PAC after its first administration in the Executive Branch, as well as the refusal of José María Villalta to opt for a candidacy of the FA, leaving this party without relevant candidates.
Political scientist Alonzo Mora stated that, without judging the role of the current government, he feels citizens expected more and the awaited “change” has not been perceived. That is why the voters could be a little hesitant regarding the PAC, especially with the ethical questions of the recent weeks.
