On Monday, Liberia saw the birth of the tenth Costa Rican giraffe. The 50-kilo and meter-and-a-half female giraffe was named Lydia. The giraffe is the first born of the year.
According to Tania Pivovarova, veterinarian at Ponderosa Adventure Park, the country must be proud of Lydia’s birth, because not all zoos are successful at giraffe breeding.
Having 10 giraffes born in Costa Rica has greatly to do with the climate, which is an indispensable factor. We have much of the day with natural light and little cold,
explained the specialist.
