PRC censored and declared two legislators as personae non gratae

On November 26th, Renovación Costarricense Party (PRC) approved a vote of censure for its two representatives, Abelino Esquivel and Gonzalo Ramírez, a fact confirmed on November 28th by Justo Orozco, president of PRC and former legislator.

Orozco denied that Esquivel and Ramírez had been expelled from the party, but did acknowledge that the General Assembly of the group agreed the vote of censure.

When  asked what the vote of censorship consists of, Orozco replied: “declared them personae non gratae and disable them to use the party name again.”

He explained that the decision was made basically for three reasons:

-Disloyalty for supporting other political groups in the past municipal elections.
-Disrespect to PRC structures.
-Lack of economical collabration with the party.

Legislator Gonzalo Ramírez stated they will appeal to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal and assured that they will not make economic contributions to the party because there is no clarity or transparency regarding the management of resources.
