According to Luis Guillermo Solís, the fact that people mention his name or ask for things for his alleged warrant is a normal situation. The President stated that he is not always aware of it and cannot stop it, but assures he has done nothing wrong.
On Wednesday Solís denied his alleged involvement with the procedures for the former director of customs, Benito Coghi, to facilitate cement de-stocking and the entry of Chinese cement into the country via importer Juan Carlos Bolaños.
Deputy Finance Minister Fernando Rodriguez told Coghi that the “Big Chief” was waiting for the cement issue to be cleared up and when they did the job, he said he had earned points in Zapote.
Rodríguez’s messages, released by Coghi in the commission investigating the irregular loans granted by the Bank of Costa Rica, involve the president in favor of the cement entrepreneur, but he denies that situation and says he knew nothing of what was going on.
He even said that at this moment he is more concerned with the emergencies caused by the rains that affect the country than with the words of the former director of customs in the commission of inquiry.
