President on therapeutic abortion: “my priority is the fiscal crisis”

On Thursday, Carlos Alvarado reiterated that signing the rule to approve therapeutic abortion is not his priority.

Although he did not say it that way, when asked about the issue and the criticisms from the groups in favor, as well as the criticisms made by the church, Alvarado spoke about his priority.

Today my biggest concern is that the country does not enter an economic crisis from the fiscal deficit and all my efforts are there,”

responded the president.

On the thinking of groups in favor and against abortion, as well as the speech of the Bishop of Ciudad Quedada against this technique, the president only said that he respects all opinions.

I am pleased that in Costa Rica we are a democratic country where people can express their views freely,”

stated the president.

Last week, prior to the celebration of July 25th in Guanacaste, Alvarado said he will sign the technical standard when he deems fit.
