President Luis Guillermo Solís said on Thursday that he has not been notified of any complaint against him, but said he is willing to be put at the Prosecution’s disposal if they so require.
The Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that the president is under investigation for the alleged crime of illegal appointments.
The President of the Republic has not been notified of any accusation against him before the Public Prosecutor. However, he reiterates his permanent willingness to collaborate in any action required by the Prosecutor’s Office, as we have always done,”
responded Presidential House when requested a reaction from Solís on the matter.
In addition, the Office of the Prosecutor initiated investigations against 10 of the ministers of the current administration for disobedience, abuse of authority, influence peddling, illegal appointments, as well as deceit in the reception of goods and services.
The Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Finance, Helio Fallas, is being investigated for two cases of breach of duties. The Minister of Labor, Alfredo Hasbum, is also being investigated for the same crime.
German Valverde, Minister of Public Works and Transport, is under the scrutiny of the Public Ministry for illegally accepting goods and services, while the Minister of Health, Karen Mayorga, is being investigated for alleged abuse of authority and influence peddling.
They are joined by the Education Minister, Sonia Marta Mora, with an open case for disobedience.
On these complaints, the Presidential House said that officials cannot be prejudged until the Public Prosecutor’s Office bases the complaints and investigations.
