President Solís: “There are laws, but the road slaughter continues”

On Monday morning, President Luis Guillermo Solís strongly attacked Costa Ricans’ malpractices on the road and said that although there are laws, the slaughter continues.

Concerned about the issue, Solís asked the authorities, including the Ministry of Public Education (MEP), the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MOPT), Ministry of Culture and Youth (MCJ), among others, to collect all available information on Costa Rican road safety. From these data, the President wants to build a new comprehensive proposal in 30 days.

Solís also spoke about the importance of teaching the subject of road safety, because, although there are laws and traffic officers doing their work, it is important that people collaborate to prevent minors from becoming adults who drive under the influence of alcohol, without helmets or safety belt, among other malpractices
