Luis Guillermo Solís vetoed the legislative decree to reform the Organic Law of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Costa Rica, according to a note sent to the legislative president Gonzalo Ramírez.
According to the Presidential House, the reason is that the substitute text approved by the legislators was not consulted in a timely manner with the Ministry of Health, to express the criterion on the substantive aspects that are now subject to the veto.
On the other hand, the College of Physicians and Surgeons believes the reform of the law would help better fulfill the fundamental task of the institution of being at the service of health and of the country.
The President of the Governing Board, Dr. Andrés Castillo Saborío, indicated that in the next session the scope of the veto will be analyzed and together with the Legal Department, they’ll decide the way forward to carry on with the project and correct the aspects indicated in the presidential letter, always respecting the legislative process.
