Presidential House: Cementazo “is just like any other issue in the country”

President Luis Guillermo Solís said on Wednesday that he did not mention the Cementazo scandal in his accountability speech because “it was not necessary,” stating that it was explained in the document.

There was no shortage of criticism from legislators and several sectors, so Presidential House responded this Thursday, assuring that what happened around the bank loans, the alleged influence peddling and more regarding the Chinese cement, is just like any other issue in the country.

Cementazo is an important issue for the country and public opinion. It is an important issue, it has not been played down, but it is just like many other issues in the country,”

said Mauricio Herrera, Minister of Communication, who was at the press conference after the last Governing Council.

Solís addressed the subject in three paragraphs of one of the 95 pages of the report, which they decided to summarize in an hour before the legislators.

Herrera justified the omission by stating that he did not speak in the discourse about issues such as poverty and infrastructure either.
