Turrialba Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal case against former magistrate Celso Gamboa Sánchez, who appears as a suspect in the crime of reckless driving.
Gamboa was arrested on Wednesday night by Public Force officers in the Pavones sector of Turrialba, after they received a 9-1-1 call indicating that a person was driving a car under the influence of alcohol and was throwing bottles of liquor through the windows. When the Traffic Police arrived, Gamboa refused to take the breathalyzer, so he was immediately fined and the Prosecutor’s Office ordered the Public Force to transfer him to William Allen Hospital, where he had a blood test.
The results of the tests are not available but
the samples will be sent to the Forensic Science Complex, where they must send a report to the Public Ministry with the result,”
said the Prosecutor’s Office.
The result of the blood test can last up to one month and the Prosecutor’s Office indicates that it is not necessary to indicate that there is a negative result, as Gamboa said in a Facebook video.
Gamboa acknowledges that he refused to have the breathalyzer test after being approached by the authorities and mentions in the recording that he returned home driving in his own car. According to him, the blood tests done at the William Allen Hospital did not show any alcohol presence.
