Public Force rescued neighbors affected by floods in Pococí

Officials of the Public Force rescued neighbors affected by floods caused by heavy rains, which affected the province of Limón on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Nelson Barquero, regional deputy director of Fuerza Pública Región 12 Caribe, after receiving a flood warning in Los Cholos neighborhood in La Rita de Pococís, they went to the place along with Red Cross and Fire units.

Five to 10 families were completely flooded by the nearby creeks that increased significantly. Fortunately, we were able to get a significant number of children, women, and senior citizens to keep them safe,”

said Barquero.

The chief added that work is being done in collaboration with the National Emergency Commission (CNE) to carry out evacuations.

According to Diego Zúñiga from the Operational Support Group of the Caribbean Region 12, in nearly 35 homes water practically got to his knees, so people were asked to evacuate since the level of the river bed was increasing.
