The national authorities confirmed that a low pressure system will affect the country from Tuesday, so downpours are expected in more than double amounts.
According to Juan Carlos Fallas, director of the National Meteorological Institute (IMN), the low pressure system is located in the north of Panama, in the Caribbean Sea, so an important impact is expected in the Costa Rican Pacific during Tuesday and Wednesday.
Fallas explained that the main impact will be felt first in the South Zone, so that the population was asked to comply with the prevention measures.
Iván Brenes, head of the National Emergency Commission (CNE), indicated that the yellow alert is maintained in the North, Central and South Pacific.
In addition, the communities of Tarrazú, Dota, León Cortés, Acosta, Puriscal, Turrubares and Aserrí are included in the yellow alert.
One of the main concerns of the authorities is that the wound left by the storm Nate in the country remains open. A total of 600 people remain in 37 shelters, 14 died and 67 communities remain isolated.
