Red Cross: 43 people lost their lives in accidents during Holy Week

More than 40 people died tragically during Holy Week, according to the Costa Rican Red Cross. Almost half of those killed died in traffic accidents on the road. Compared to last year, there was a decrease of one case.

Luis Guzmán, National deputy director of Risk Management, added that this year the entity dealt with the largest number of people in their history: 1219. In addition, 204 rescues were highlighted by the hierarchies of the meritorious entity. The majority of care was given in the provinces of Guanacaste, Limón and Puntarenas.

Guzmán announced that the main incidents occurred on the highway and in water emergencies: 263 collisions, 190 rollovers and 32 DUI were handled. In addition, there were more than 200 aquatic emergencies.
