Red water in Fuente de la Hispanidad was not polluted

According to the Aqueduct and Sewer Institute (AyA), there was no pollution in the water from Fuente de la Hispanidad. At the beginning of last week the fountain was dyed red, but there were no dangerous chemicals involved.

[…] preliminary analyzes show that there wasn’t any type of contamination or chemical. It was just the type of dye,”

said Yeiner Flores, an AyA communicator. The fountain was not drained, but they added chemicals to disintegrate the color so the water returned to its natural tone. Otherwise the institution would have had to invest nearly ¢100,000.

The water that flows through this fountain was dyed red at the beginning of last week. Social network users linked the incident with Guillermo Vargas, known as Habacuc, a controversial Nicaraguan artist and author of works that have caught the attention of many Costa Ricans. However, Vargas stated he will not confirm or deny his involvement in the incident.
