The Ministry of Public Security of Panama deported “alleged religious cult” that had been expelled from Costa Rica.
On Wednesday, Panamanian authorities arrested 17 people, including minors, who allegedly make up the “Carbon Nation” group. Eligio Lee Bishop, their main leader, was also arrested. They were found through an operation carried out on a beach in the coastal town of San Carlos, about 75 kilometers southwest of Panama City.
Bishop and two more of the 17 members of the cult were sent to their country of origin, the United States, for being considered a risk and threat to national security,”
said the authorities said in a statement.
According to Jorge Miranda, from the National Police of Panama, messages on social networks had been warning about the presence of an alleged religious cult that had already been expelled from Costa Rica.
After verifying the information, the National Migration Service and the Police carried out an operation that ended with the capture of
a total of 17 people, including two minors, who are children of one of the members of this organization,”
Miranda told the Telemetro channel. However, the police chief did not mention the name or activities that this alleged cult would be carrying out in Panama.
