REPICA in Costa Rica

One of the main objectives of the XXXVII Reunión Portuaria del Istmo Centroamericano (REPICA) to be held in Costa Rica this month is to perceive the Central American region as a whole regarding port issues.

The meeting will take place in Costa Rica from July, 19th to July, 22nd and will involve at least 150 people from the government and private companies related to the subject.

The main objective is to exchange information on port, maritime issues and strategies that countries in the region are creating. I think it will be a good opportunity for Costa Rica to place itself in a global position due to the great efforts we are making in the maritime port sector,

said Jorge Mora, director of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport’s Port Division.

Costa Rica will present Moin container terminal progress and the regulatory reforms that have occurred.

One of the aspects that will draw the attention is the role of women in this industry since it is considered as a man’s work, but lately, this scenery has changed. Costa Rica is an example itself, where both JAPDEVA and INCOP are headed by women, which becomes a reference for the rest of the region.

There will be three conferences, eight round tables, as well as visits to Caldera Port and to Moin container terminal.
