A new eruption of gases and ash was reported on Tuesday afternoon in Rincón de la Vieja Volcano.
The event occurred at 2:49 a.m., with a vigorous plume that rose 1.5 kilometers from the active crater.
The Volcanological and Seismological Observatory of Costa Rica (OVSICORI) and the National Seismological Network (RSN) reported the event. At 3:05 p.m. the eruption was still ongoing.
The plume was mostly composed of water vapor. Seismicity and tremor remain constant,”
said a report published at 11:00 a.m.
The massif reported other eruptions on May 23rd, June 11th and 24th and September 29th.
